Our employees have proved their love of bake sales yet again by raising a whopping £250 over three mornings last week for Molly’s Wish! Well done and thank you to everyone who contributed to making this so worthwhile.
This is a fundraising campaign to raise £50K so that a local 4 year old girl, Molly, who has celebral palsy can have a life-changing operation in the US. This operation will relieve the spasticity in Molly’s legs and will hopefully prevent her stiffness deteriorating any further, steering away from potential walking aids or a wheelchair in the future. This campaign is being led by the charity, Tree of Hope, whose mission is is to transform the lives of sick children and empower families.
After 45 years working in the HV electronics industry, Carey Austin has retired from his executive role at HiTek Power.
Carey started his working life in 1968 at a company in Croydon making heating and air conditioning ducting. His HV electronics career started with Brandenburg in June 1969, before moving south to join Hunting Hivolt in 1982.
In 1988 the high voltage division of Hunting Hivolt was acquired by Bonar Wallis Electronics and Carey became the Sales Manager at the newly named Bonar Wallis Hivolt.
Carey progressed through the company holding various key posts in operations and sales and marketing until he was appointed as Managing Director for three companies within the Group when it was owned by Farnell Electronics, followed by his appointment as MD to HiTek Power in 1990 and as Group Chief Executive Officer in 2007.
Carey made a huge contribution to the success of the company over the years, an achievement honoured by a special retirement send-off. This included an amusing presentation made by friend and colleague, Dean Kerr, Director of Operations, which catalogued Carey’s working life with those obligatory, historical photos! Carey was then presented with a gift from HiTek Power employees, before enjoying a buffet lunch with the management team and long-serving colleagues, both past and present.
Connecting Industry’s Electronics magazine included a great article recently in which our General Manager, Gary Byfield, discusses the demands that mass spectrometry applications place on high voltage power supplies.
